August 2010
Searching for an agent is going well. I've had some postive results and chapter requests for The Unmade Man. Three new short stories are out in the hands of magazines. Another one about thousands of people expelled from long-term, memory replaying, welfare machines is half finished. I plan to make fall a publishing season.
I've got a side job, maintaining a fantastic little chapel, and spend all that time listening to audiobooks. This month's list, so far, has been The Surgeon's Mate, of the Aubry/Maturin series, by Patrick O'Brian; The Birthing House, by Christopher Ransom; Integral Trees, by Larry Niven (I love his eccentric world settings); and currently Oil, by Upton Sinclair. I'm really enjoying Oil and Sinclair's voice. I don't know how I managed to read so much and not run into him sooner. I also wonder if he is connected to the dinosaur filling stations.
